The Lord appeared to him from far away. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.”
What I have always found amazing about Gods love is it is always there. Whether we are wandering aimlessly in a desert for way too long, or when we become so busy with everyday life that we nudge him to the side. Most people know what I’m talking about, even when we start our day in his presence; studying his word, we are already planning what we need to do, at work, or for other people. But there, God is - arms out wide, urging us to draw love from him.
God’s love comes to us in so many different ways, it can be in the eyes of our child, through a church family that prays for you daily (not just when there is turmoil in your life), in a breeze across your face when you are walking alone on a beach. Gods love always finds us. Maya Angelou once said, "It still humbles me, that this force, God, which made leaves and fleas and stars and rivers and you, loves me.” That the God who created the stars and the ocean loves each and every one of us humbles me daily.
In this Lenten season (and every season) let God’s love draw you closer, know that it is always there for you.
Dear heavenly creator, cover us in your love, so that we can shine your light in this world, and love your creation like you have loved us. Amen
