Day 15—Friday, March 1

John 6:27

“Do not work for the food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.”

We have multiple ministries at RCPC that reach out and help people every day. We help them in their daily struggles to find enough food to eat, a safe place to live, and meaningful work. We reach out from the abundance in our lives to help others with their material needs, sharing the plenty we enjoy each day in our lives.

But where does this desire to help come from? What inspires us to collect food for the needy, provide clothing to those who are without, help those who are out of prison learn new job skills, or serve children in need of mentoring? I think it is the spirit of God working through us each day showing us the way to serve those around us who are in need.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “Do not work for the food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”

Seek within yourself the power of the food of God and reach out to those in need that they may know the life-giving Spirit of Jesus Christ.
